Good evening internet! Or morning, or afternoon, or night. Whatever time you’re reading this. I locked this blog down for a while, and I had a really good reason!

In December, I started an alternate certification program to become a teacher in Texas!

In June while I was in Florida, I got a call with a job offer from a school district that wanted me to teach High School Journalism. I closed down my cite because I was worried students would look for me, but to be completely honest there’s not really anything on here that would be deemed inappropriate.

I am a few months in now- we are halfway through our first semester. We have started creating pages for our yearbook, and my newspaper class and I have learned news writing together.

There are days that I feel wildly unprepared, but overall everyone seems to think I’m doing okay. My biggest struggle is (arguably) that I blend in with my students.

So far so good, and I’m super excited for the rest of the year!

Now as a gesture of goodwill, I am going to set some blogging goals to hold myself accountable for actually being back.

First of all, I have some book reviews to write! It looks like the last review I wrote was about The Ride of a Lifetime. So far this year I have read… The Midnight Library by Matt Haig, The Guest List by Lucy Foley, Leave the World Behind by Rumaan Alam, and Watch Me Disappear by Janelle Brown. I am currently reading Educated by Tara Westover, so we’ll add that to the list for once I’m done.

After those… I have a lot of books to read, and more coming! I joined Book of the Month, and my October pick was The Perishing. AND, as if that wasn’t enough, Target was having a BOGO Free sale, so I bought The Last Thing He Told Me by Laura Dave, Apples Never Fall by Liane Moriarty, and Circe by Madeline Miller. Fingers crossed I can keep up my current reading momentum.

Second… I went on another vacation! Contrary to popular belief, teachers are given personal days and are encourage to take them. I probably wouldn’t have since it’s my first year, but… it was a previously planned trip with a friend from the opposite end of the country. My school was fine with me taking a day for personal business, and it’ll probably be the only personal business day I take this year. So we went to Halloween Horror Nights in Orlando for a weekend in September! Was I stressed about my classes while I was there? YES. Was it worth it? ABSOLUTELY!!!

So with that being said… thanks for having me, and I’m looking forward to getting back in to writing!
