3/14-3/27
St. Patrick’s Day is fun, but Guinness is gross.
I’ve decided that I might stick with the two week format I used for the last update, so I’m going to try that again for the last two weeks!
The first few days involved a lot of sleeping, working, and a phone interview with a marketing company. I’m really glad that I got to go home, but actually traveling was exhausting. The first day that I really did anything fun (besides play Smash with Sarah, we both have our switches now), was St. Patty’s Day! After work some friends and I went to Raglan Road in Disney Springs, and we spent a little time there and then wandered around looking for food. It was still a work day, but it had a nice ending.
The next day I went to Epcot before work. I bought some pins, rode Nemo and Friends, hung out in the aquarium (Disney has the second biggest aquarium in the US?), and I FINALLY rode the Figment ride. The thing with that is that most people either love it or hate it. I was pretty neutral, but it’s definitely not a ride that I feel like I need to go on again.
On the 19th, Sarah and I met up with some people from school! We ate lunch in Disney Springs at the Chicken Guy (honestly the best), I bought some Star Wars mystery set pins, and then I had to go to work for my closing shift. The good news is that I drew salads for closing, so it was a super easy day. When I got home, my roommates and I decided that it was a wonderful time to fry oreos, so we did. I made fried oreos and double-fried oreos, and it was something. We definitely have some ideas for improving them the next time we should feel like eating fried sweets.
The next day I went to Universal with one of my coworkers, and it was a lot of fun! We went to Dunkin’ Donuts, rode Storm Force, The Jurassic Park River Journey, Escape from Gringotts (twice), the Forbidden Journey ride in Hogwarts, and are at the Leaky Couldron. We got ice cream, rode the Hogwarts Express (both ways), and we rode the Twirl N Hurl, The Minion Ride, ET, and the Men in Black ride. We really got a lot done that day, but I still haven’t picked my Hogwarts house. That was one of the goals, but it’s still up in the air. I’m leaning towards Hufflepuff but honestly I could be Ravenclaw. Who knows.
The next two days kinda blur together, literally. I was with some of my friends really late, went home, slept for two hours, and then was back with them at Animal Kingdom. It was a pretty chill day as far as the parks go, but we did ride some things. We went on the Safari tour, saw Up! A Great Burd Adventure, and rode Dinosaur. We went to Disney Springs for dinner and got D Luxe Burger, and cupcakes from the Sprinkles cupcake ATM. It was a nice, relaxing day for someone who didn’t get nearly enough sleep.
The next few days were largely just working and relaxing. I hung out with my coworkers and my roommates, slept a lot, and we went to see a Five Feet Apart! Other than that, it was just spending time with people, which was a nice change. I love the parks, and I love going places or hanging out with all of the cool people I’ve met here, but it’s kind of a work hard play hard environment. It’s certainly a lot of fun, but sometimes it’s nice to hit the pause button and just be for a little while. One day I literally took a book and went to sit by the pool before work, and it was one of the best things I’ve done this week. It’s getting close to the end for my program (about 7 weeks left until move out), so I think it’ll either start winding down or get even wilder. We’ll see!
